Getting Started With Medicare Guide
Some people like to get right to the point. They don’t need to know the details right away. They would rather get an overview and have the choice to go deeper. If you are one of these people, then the Getting Started With Medicare guide may be for you.
This guide covers the basics about Parts A, B, C and D as well as supplement insurance—one page for each. It provides a list of questions that may help you understand your coverage needs and make a confident choice. Then it gives you a worksheet to help you find and compare the plans you are interested in side by side.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program
The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a national program that offers free one-on-one counseling and assistance to people with Medicare and their families. SHIP offers telephone and face-to-face sessions as well as public education presentations and programs. Medicare & You
Medicare updates its official handbook, Medicare & You, each year. You can download a copy from the Medicare web site, a great source of information in itself. Social Security Administration
For help with questions about eligibility, enrollment and arranging for help with the cost of Medicare, and for answers about Social Security retirement and disability benefits. You can call 1-800-772-1213, TTY 1-800-325-0778, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday.

Your health plan’s customer service center can answer any questions you may have about your current coverage. Call the number on your identification card.
