Posted by Medicare Made Clear

medicare education checklistMedicare can be confusing, whether you’re exploring different plans during Open Enrollment (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7) or getting ready to enroll for the first time. The good news is that there is plenty of information available from a number of sources. The bad news is that efforts to sift through it all may result in information overload and frustration.

Enter the Medicare Education Checklist. This simple resource is a guide to online videos, tools, and trusted sources for Medicare information. Starting with the basics about Medicare, it guides you to help with determining your coverage needs, understanding different coverage examples, and finding assistance and support in your community. In short, the Checklist provides a clear starting point and a path to help you learn and make informed Medicare decisions.

UnitedHealthcare created the Checklist as part of its National Medicare Education Week initiative, which is this week, Sept. 15 – 21. The week is devoted to helping baby boomers, Medicare beneficiaries, family members and caregivers learn about coverage options and prepare for Medicare Open Enrollment (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7).

This week, at live events across the country, people have an opportunity to get answers to their specific questions and help with their next steps in finding a Medicare plan that is a good fit for their needs. People who can’t attend a live event can view the presentation online and take a short quiz to test what they learned.
